See map below.

For children

The Johannes Larsen Museum is a great place to visit with children. Immerse yourself in the art and have fun in the garden and the Fairytale Room.

Discover life and art with your children

Children have always played a major role at the Johannes Larsen Museum. To this day, you can enter the children’s room in the house and discover such items as the impressive doll’s house. As a museum, we believe it is very important for children to have a great time.

The Fairytale Room
In the museum’s exhibition building, one of the rooms is dedicated to children: the Fairytale Room. Here you can see Johannes Larsen’s illustrations for the children’s stories, ‘The Story of Little Kitty’ and ‘The Ugly Duckling’. There is also a constantly-changing programme of fun, educational activities.

Art Treasure Hunt
Help the museum solve puzzles and find hidden works. Go on an art treasure hunt and see if you can solve the challenges. The content of the treasure hunt is changed on a regular basis.

Holidays
We always have a programme of  exciting activities at the museum during the school holidays. Remember to check our calendar.

Visit Kaffehuset

Whiling away some time in our charming café, ‘Kaffehuset’ is an important part of any visit to the Johannes Larsen Museum. There are great views of both the Great Belt and the garden.

Be a guest in an artist’s home

Kaffehuset is an integral part of the museum experience. Visitors to the museum are not merely visitors; they are guests in an artist’s home.

At Kaffehuset we like to provide our guests with a sensory experience based on the place and its tradition. We are referring to the good, yet simple life in harmony with nature and the season’s ingredients, including herbs from the museum’s vegetable garden and delicious homemade bread and cakes. In 2018, Kaffehuset was expanded, and in 2019 we added a terrace and steps overlooking the Great Belt. Guests are welcome to visit Kaffehuset without needing a ticket to the museum.

Excellent ingredients

At Kaffehuset you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and great homemade cake. Snacks and light lunches are also available.

At Kaffehuset we do our utmost to make sure our guests have a positive experience. Sustainability and avoiding food waste are top priorities. We bake our own bread and cakes and use excellent ingredients. Many of the ingredients come from  the museum’s own vegetable garden.

Menu

In addition to coffee, tea and cake, the menu always features a herring platter, a light dish and fish cakes with homemade remoulade and rye bread. The menu of the day appears on the blackboard in Kaffehuset.
