Fritz Syberg and Johannes Larsen<\/h2>\n

Fritz and Anna Syberg moved to Kerteminde in 1902, an the two artist friends, Fritz Syberg and Johannes Larsen, put the area on the map in the art world. In particular, the dramatic landscape of Fyns Hoved and the rural scenery northwest of Kerteminde were immortalized by Syberg, while Larsen is especially known for his depictions of maritime subjects and landscapes, his and Alhed’s artist home, and, of course, birds.<\/p>\n

The collection features a wide range of major works by Fritz Syberg and Johannes Larsens.<\/p>\n

The Swanes<\/h2>\n

Johannes Larsen’s sister, Christine, became an artist like her brother. In 1910, she married the painter Sigurd Swane, and although they divorced in 1920, she is today known as Christine Swane, as one of Denmark’s first female modernists. For a period, the two artists lived in Kerteminde. Together they had a son, Lars Swane, whose works are also represented in the museum’s collection. <\/span><\/p>\n
