Alhed and Johannes Larsen moved into the villa in 1902 with theire 2 sons.
Johannes Larsen was mainly known as a bird painter, later it became a familiar genre in Scandinavia. He popularized images of birds, particularly through his woodcuts and smaller paintings. Later he received commissions to illustrate books and paint large paintings for public buildings, such as the Queen’s receiving room at Christiansborg Castle (seat of the Danish Parliament) and the City Hall of Odense, capital city of Funen.

Trækfuglevej – In the footsteps of Thøger Larsen Kirsten Klein and Steen Folmer Jensen Experience a unique exhibition where artists Kirsten Klein and Steen Folmer Jensen take you on a poetic journey in Thøger Larsen’s footsteps. The winter’s big special exhibition at the Johannes Larsen Museum is about longing and experiencing moods and places where others have gone before yourself. The exhibition combines Kirsten Klein’s beautiful photographs and Steen Folmer’s exciting sketches and sound recordings with selected poems and quotes by Thøger Larsen.

Enjoy the unik surrondings at the Coffehouse the lovely garden or the view from the terrase to the ocean. The kitchen like to use local season´s harvest and baked all the bread and cakes.
Lunch is served from 11 am to 2.40 pm
Lunch in June – October is from 11 am- 3 pm.
