The birth of Christine Swane (1876–1960). Johannes Larsen Museum marks the occasion, in collaboration with Nivaagaard Collection and Ribe Art Museum, with a retrospective special exhibition.
Special Exhibition: VIDSYN – New Funen Art
19. september 2026 to january 2027
The special exhibition VIDSYN – New Funen Art has been created in collaboration with 23 young artists with ties to Funen. What the artists share is a common engagement with the theme of nature.
The Studio’s
The studio building was constructed in 1916–17. Today, it is known as “The Workshop” and opens onto the idyllic winter garden.
The Artist’s Home
Alhed and Johannes Larsen created a home that became a central meeting place for the artists of their time.
The Collection
Works by, among others, Alhed and Johannes Larsen and Fritz Syberg, as well as a collection of books and an exhibition on migratory birds, are displayed in the beautiful exhibition galleries.
The Wing
The museum’s special exhibitions are presented in the exhibition building “The Wing”. There is always something new and exciting to discover.
The Fairy Tale Room
In the exhibition building The Wing, you will find the Fairy Tale Room. Here, changing children’s activities are presented in connection with the special exhibitions.
The Garden
Right by the Great Belt lies the Larsen family’s beautiful garden and private paradise — their source of inspiration and artistic universe.
Fritz Syberg’s studio

The Swan Mill
The Swan Mill is a beloved artistic motif and an icon of Alhed and Johannes Larsen’s artist home on Møllebakken. Today, the Swan Mill is part of the Johannes Larsen Museum and serves as a beautiful landmark for both the museum and the town of Kerteminde.
Rylen
At the harbour in Kerteminde, you can see the famous ship Rylen, which Johannes Larsen sailed on expeditions to the Danish islands in the 1920s. During the summer season, the ship may be away on new voyages.

PLIGTEN KALDER Autumn Tour 2026

Helene Blum & Harald Haugaard – Nordic Christmas with Guests (20th Anniversary)

In 2026, it will be 20 years since singer Helene Blum and violinist Harald Haugaard first invited musical guests and audiences to their Nordic Christmas concert.
Your ticket includes admission to the museum throughout the day.
The Museum Café (Kaffehuset) will be open from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, offering a Christmas platter available for purchase.

Meet the Embroiderers
Tuesdays: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Wednesdays: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Every Tuesday and Wednesday, you can meet our volunteer embroiderers in the museum’s exhibition building, The Wing (Vingen).
They are working to recreate textiles from the Villa that need replacing after many years of use.
