THE HISTORY OF THE GARDEN: The place tells the story
The Johannes Larsen Museum’s garden can be regarded as the place’s biggest work of art. The buildings, both the old and the new, are not only located in the garden, but a part of it as an organic whole, on which the museum builds further.

The garden walk is thus a story about the place, its spirit and how the facility has developed from the beginning to the museum that is located here today.

On the tour of the garden, you will hear about the utility garden, the brewery, and Larsen’s relationship to self-sufficiency and the garden’s many functions. You will hear about the garden as a self-promoting meeting place and recreational space, where Møllebakken in the old days included a garden corresponding to 30 single-family house plots. Today, the garden is smaller but full of its main story and many anecdotes and stories about people, animals, and plants.

The Larsen family’s garden played a significant role 100 years ago, and today the garden is still the crucial element that connects all the other parts – art, houses, and the good life – for a very special experience for guests at Møllebakken.

Come and visit Johannes Larsen and have a beautiful nature experience in Kerteminde.
