Særudstillingen The special exhibition focuses on a distinctive piece of Danish coastal and cultural landscape – The Hindsholm peninsula. The exhibition is an ambitious and visionary project featuring six of today’s leading Danish photographic artists.

2022 marks the 150th anniversary of Alhed Larsen’s birth. To mark the occasion, we present a major special exhibition and have published a biography about Alhed Larsen, her life, and her art.

In the summer of 2023, Faaborg Museum and the Johannes Larsen Museum each present a major special exhibition in parallel, focusing on the colours of the Funen Painters.

The artist’s collective Chroma, featuring Iben Høj, Karin Carlander, and Lea Mi Engholm, presents works in knit design, weaving, and ceramics.

Exhibition: Christmas and festive tables 2023
From 11. November, we invite you inside to decorated tables at the Johannes Larsen Museum. At the museum, we know a thing or two about homeliness and hospitality from the artist’s home in the time of Johannes and Alhed.

Special exhibition: Rylen in the Limfjord 1924 - 2024

The special exhibition Rylen in the Limfjord presents contemporary visual artists’ and writers’ interpretations of the Limfjord region’s natural and cultural landscape in a historical context.

Special exhibition: Dorthe Dencker - The protected, the endangered, and the extinct
5. August to 20. October 2024
The exhibition is located in the book rotunda in the garden at the Johannes Larsen Museum. Based on a list of endangered animals, artist Dorthe Dencker has created a small exhibition featuring endangered or extinct species.

Christmas and festive tables
16. November to 5. January 2025
Look forward to this year’s Christmas and festive tables at the Johannes Larsen Museum – featuring, among others, Bente Scavenius from “Verdensdamerne”, local artist Iben Høj, former museum director Erland Porsmose, and several others.

The summer exhibition 2024 at the Johannes Larsen Museum brings together two of the Nordic region’s most significant nature artists and communicators.

Særudstilling: Fritz Syberg. Livet vil!
12. oktober to 26. januar 2025
Livet vil! is a solo exhibition about one of the core artists of the Johannes Larsen Museum. Fritz Syberg’s life was full of contrasts, and art became his way of expressing both joy and processing grief and loss.

Special exhibition : Allan Otte & Ulrik Møller
1. February to 18. May 2025
In the winter and spring of 2025, the Johannes Larsen Museum presents a special exhibition featuring painters Ulrik Møller and Allan Otte, two prominent contemporary artists who each, in their own way, take the landscape as their central focus.

Where does your path lead?
“Aqqut” means “path” in Greenlandic and is the title of this summer’s major special exhibition at the Johannes Larsen Museum, featuring artists Aka Høegh and Bolatta Silis-Høegh. A central question explores how you find your own path when your parents are also artists.

61 artists and artist groups from Denmark and abroad present their bird-themed works at the Johannes Larsen Museum in the autumn and winter of 2025–26. The exhibition showcases new bird art that will captivate audiences with compelling interpretations of what bird art can and should be today.
